2017 Dodge Journey vs 2017 Kia Sorento

With so many SUVs to choose from these days, finding the right one can be a challenge. We want to make things easier on you. If you're interested in a two or three row midsize crossover, you're likely to come across the 2017 Dodge Journey and 2017 Kia Sorento in your research. We've gathered details on some of the key features and specs to help you compare, so read on to find out which model stands out in the segment.

When it comes to crossovers and SUVs, it isn't uncommon for models to only offer AWD capability on higher trim levels rather than on the entry level model. That's the case with the 2017 Sorento, but the Journey offers AWD on every model, which means you can have AWD while keeping the vehicle's price within your budget.

Differences Between the 2017 Journey and the 2017 Sorento

Engine options between these two vehicles are not that dissimilar. Both come standard with 2.4-liter 16-valve 4-cylinder power plants, while the Journey offers an available 3.6-liter V6 and the Sorento offers a 3.3-liter V6. The Sorento does have a third option, a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, but it is only available on one trim. Moreover, it delivers far less horsepower than the Journey's available V6 while only achieving 2 mpg more on the highway.

As you've likely noticed from the chart, the biggest difference between these two vehicles is in price. The Journey has a starting MSRP roughly $4,000 less than the Sorento. Usually you would expect this to be due to a lack of desirable standard features, but the Journey's entry level model includes body-color door handles, illuminated cup holders, keyless start and roof rails, none of which come standard on the Sorento.

In the end, it's the little things that count, and Dodge gives them to you at an affordable price rather than forcing you to pay extra.
