While comparing these two full-size trucks, we found that the 2019 Ram 1500 has a higher towing capacity than the 2019 Sierra. Both trucks are able to seat six passengers for when you need to bring the whole crew along for a job. The Ram 1500 has eight transmission speeds compared to the Sierra’s six. This gives the 2019 Ram better off-the-line acceleration.

2019 Ram 1500 Capability 

As you can see from the table above, the standard engine for the 2019 Ram 1500 is the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque. This engine option provides 305 horsepower, 269 lb-ft of torque and has a towing capacity of 7,730 pounds. Drivers will also have the engine options of the 5.7L HEMI® V8 or the 5.7L HEMI® V8 with eTorque. Both of these models provide 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque with the eTorque model having a towing capacity of 12,750 pounds. The eTorque mild hybrid system found in the engines is used to replace the traditional alternator with a 48-volt battery-powered, belt-driven motor generator. This improves performance, efficiency, payload, towing capabilities and drivability.
