2023 Wranger Willys 4xe: Jeep’s New Addition to It’s Plug-In Hybrid Line-Up

September 30th, 2022 by

Not only is Jeep’s Wrangler 4xe one of the most impressive variants of this revered off-roader, but it’s also one of the most sought-after plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) on the market. Jeep is making the most of this popularity by introducing the new 2023 Wrangler Willys 4xe trim level, which blends a retro design language into Jeep’s plug-in SUV.

2023 Wrangler Willys 4xe — Blending Vintage Design Cues and Graphics to Jeep’s PHEV Off-Roader

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe will be the fourth addition to Jeep’s plug-in hybrid EV line for 2023, with the entry-level trim joining the mid-tier Sahara, deluxe High Altitude, and monumental Rubicon trims. The Willys takes its cue from other trim levels in the Wrangler lineup, combining the Willys treatment of the S and Sport trims with blacked-out wheels, more aggressive tires, and a vintage twist.

The Willys is the lowest priced 4xe Wrangler trim, followed by the Sahara, Rubicon and High Altitude. Despite its slim profile, the Willys introduces some degree of affordability to the already popular Wrangler 4xe. Furthermore, this new addition to the line expands the options for those looking for the ideal Wrangler 4xe.

Unlike the more street-centered High Altitude and Sahara trims, the Willys serves as the Rubicon’s more modest off-road alternative. Even so, Willys sets itself apart with the vintage-inspired retro twist that defines the Willys trims in Jeep’s other lineups. Spotting the Trail Rated badge, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Willys 4xe has a formidable arsenal of off-road accouterments:

  • Selec-Trac 2-speed transfer case with a low-range gear ratio of 2.72:1
  • 17-inch blacked-out wheels with gnarly Firestone Destination MT2 tires
  • Dana 44 axles
  • Selec-Speed Control with hill-descent and hill-ascent Control
  • Trac-Lok rear limited-slip differential
  • Rock rails
  • 10.1 inches of ground clearance, translating to a water-fording capability of 30 inches

Standard LED headlights reside inside the blacked-out grille of the Willys, below which are LED fog lamps. The cabin features all-weather floormats and a 9-speaker Alpine audio system. Willys’s Sun and Screen Package provides the optional 8.4-inch touchscreen and Sky One-Touch Power-Top, both of which come standard on the other Wrangler 4xe trims.

The Willys signifies its Wrangler 4xe status with the customary Electric Blue painted finishes, such as the Trail Rated, Jeep Wrangler and 4xe badges, not to mention the tow hooks. Willys tops it off with an Electric Blue Willys hood decal and a swing gate spotting an Electric 4-Wheel Drive decal.
