ProMaster and ProMaster City Trims

One of the biggest differences between the two models is the variety of trim levels available on each one. To start, the ProMaster City retains its cargo/passenger van form throughout its four available trim levels.

The ProMaster, on the other hand, offers much more variety. For example, the entry level ProMaster is available as either a Cutaway Van or Chassis Cab, both of which allow you to add your own cargo body. Therefore, if you have custom cargo needs unique to your business, these two ProMaster trims may be the way to go. The ProMaster is also available in a typical Cargo Van and Window Van configuration.

ProMaster and ProMaster City Cargo and Passenger Room

You may have guessed by now that the ProMaster City is smaller in size than the ProMaster, and that means the ProMaster has the edge in cargo space with up to 462.8 cu. ft. of cargo capacity in the Window Van trim.

Still, the ProMaster City still impresses with a best-in-class 131.7 cu. ft. of cargo space. Anything it lacks in cargo room it makes up for by being able to also haul up to five passengers at a time through its Wagon and Wagon SLT trim levels, featuring fold-and-tumble rear seats that allow you to optimize interior space for either more passengers or more cargo. Though some workers may require the cargo space offered by the ProMaster, anyone who frequently transports their crew or customers will love the passenger capabilities of the ProMaster City.

ProMaster and ProMaster City Engine Specs

The ProMaster City’s smaller size certainly makes it appealing for those who do a lot of driving through busy city streets and interstates. The model is also appealing for city driving due to its ability to achieve up to 29 mpg highway.

If you want power over efficiency, however, the ProMaster model features two powerful options. The first is a 280-horsepower V6 delivering 260 lb.-ft. of torque. An EcoDiesel engine producing 295 lb.-ft. of torque is also available. As you can see, each model has its own strengths in this area, so you’ll want to carefully consider where you do most of your driving and how much power you actually need on a typical day to get the job done.
